Leah Hyman…
…volunteered for 15+ years at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, the last 5 of which with her therapy dog Ruby in their Caring Canines program. After moving to Massachusetts in 2014, Leah + Ruby visited many healthcare settings in the Boston area until Ruby’s passing. While residing on Cape Cod, Leah created and ran Dogs On Call, Cape Cod HealthCare’s new therapy dog program (CC Hospital and Falmouth campuses), which she still oversees today. After moving to Connecticut in 2020, she received her certification in Canine-Assisted Intervention at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work / Institute for Human-Animal Connection.
Leah has also been active in the Rescue community for 15+ years, volunteering and fostering for such organizations as Best Friends Animal Society in Utah and NYC, Animal Haven in NYC, Puppies Behind Bars (NYC), Animal Rescue League of Boston (Boston, Cape Cod), NEADS Service Dogs (MA) and the Connecticut Humane Society. Leah is also a member of The Dream Team, part of The Society of MSKCC.
